Starting Support: How the process works
1. Initial Enquiry
Get in touch via email or the contact form to share a little about your child and the difficulties you are seeking support for.
2. Reserve A Weekly Therapy Slot
If I feel I may be the right fit for your child and family, we will arrange a suitable weekly therapy appointment time.
Sessions are booked in initial blocks of 6 to allow time for therapeutic understanding, trust and consistency to develop.
Please note: offered available session times can only be held for 48 hours.
3. Complete Registration Forms
Before beginning support, parents are asked to complete:
-
New Client Information Form
-
Therapy Contract & Consent Agreement
These help me begin building a fuller understanding of your child’s needs and ensure all information and consent is in place prior to starting therapeutic work.
4. Parent Consultation (Online)
Before your child’s first session, we will arrange a 60-minute online parent consultation via Zoom.
This consultation is for parents/carers only and provides a safe, supportive space to:
-
talk openly about your child’s journey so far,
-
discuss concerns at home or school,
-
explore your child’s strengths and needs,
-
and share your hopes for psychological and therapeutic support.
Many parents find it helpful to have this opportunity to speak honestly without worrying about their child overhearing sensitive conversations.
5. Therapeutic Sessions Begin
Therapy sessions are tailored to your child’s individual needs, developmental profile and emotional world.
Support may integrate:
-
psychotherapy,
-
psychological assessment and formulation,
-
ACT,
-
CBT/ERP for OCD and anxiety,
- CBIT for tics
- attachment-informed approaches,
-
nervous system and emotional regulation work,
-
neuro-affirming support
-
and parent collaboration and/or SPACE where appropriate.
Sessions are offered both online and face-to-face.
6. Review & Next Steps
At the end of the initial 6-session block, we will review:
-
progress so far,
-
therapeutic goals,
-
ongoing support needs,
-
and recommendations moving forward.
Therapy is always collaborative, flexible and responsive to your child’s needs over time.
